Comments were:

It was a most fitting tribute to a man
much respected and loved

One of the “best” funerals I have
ever been to.

The eulogy and homily were exceptional
in sharing the man Br Mark was.

The hospitality of Holy Cross College,
its staff and students,
was second to none.
The setting stunning.

The brass band at the cemetery
[Leichhardt Celebrity Brass Band]
was something unique and added
so much to the solemnity
of the occasion.

The young college cadets processing
with Br Mark’s coffin on their shoulders
to the hearse was
so meaningful and appropriate.
The whole college presenting
a guard of honour as a final farewell
a wonderful memory for us all.

The Brothers thank the very many
who through their creativeness and generous hearts
enabled us celebrate Br Mark’s
passing from this life to his
Eternal Reward.

Thank you, Holy Cross College,
for providing the venue,
the creativity, the hard work,
the inspiration,
and the hospitality,
for a send-off we will long remember
and probably never forget.

Eulogy by Br Paul O’Keeffe
Province Leader

Mass booklet

We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden death of Brother Mark Ryan
of the Ryde community on the 21st February, 2021.

Mark last year celebrated his 60th anniversary as a Patrician Brother.
Last week he celebrated his 87th birthday.

His death was very sudden with no indications of him being unwell. The day
before his death he was playing his tuba with his Leichhardt Celebrity Band,
he ate a hearty lunch and dinner, and watched some tennis on the TV before
retiring to his room for the night.

Mark was one of our very popular Brothers. He loved life, his Ryan family,
his Patrician family, his Holy Cross, his many friends, and his music.
He was Mr Hospitality.

A gifted teacher of all things Science he was in the Science laboratory
many years after his official retirement from the classroom.

He loved everything to do with music. His contribution to the music at Holy Cross College
acknowledged by the music block of the college being named after him.

May this man who loved so much
be enjoying the rewards he so deserves.

Rest in peace, Mark.
We will miss you.
